Job hunting

job hunting

How not to become depressed while job hunting?
What do we feel when the “job hunting” quest is too long? That’s right, we are nervous, sleep poorly, eat little and don’t enjoy anything. Our level of self-esteem leaves much to be desired. In the end, when we are desperate, we are ready to accept any job, even if we know that we will not like it. Today we will talk about avoiding these pitiful consequences and perfect job hunting.
Find something that will help you stay strong
It could be anything. Your past successful work experience, getting an education, a supportive group consisting of family and friends. Try to remember all your achievements, everything that you can be proud of: from winning a school football match to getting a tender at your last job.
If all of these things didn’t help, take out your kindergarten photo from the family album. Look into the eyes of this child and remember how many promises were made to him then: to become a pilot or a great boss or a happy person. You couldn’t lie to him, could you?
Dot all the i’s
Sometimes our job hunting is not successful because we don’t know what we’re looking for. We mumble something like: “I want a salary of at least n-thousand rubles” or “I want to work at a university” When we face what we actually asked for, we have a lot of discontent and doubts: “No, the salary is certainly decent, and I have studied it for five years, but I am not sure that I can take on such a responsibility.
In order not to fall into this trap, you should not have vague ideas about your future work. Take a piece of paper and describe in detail everything you expect from your work, job responsibilities and salary. Perhaps, when you make such a list you will realize that you want too much. And this is not a tragedy, and it does not mean that you should bury your dreams, even without giving them a chance to come true.
Your life is not job hunting only.
Of course, job hunting is your top issue at the moment. But don’t forget that your life is passing. And, in the cases described above, it passes very fast. Yes, you are looking for a job, but it does not mean that you should give up trainings, hobbies, meetings with friends — all that will bring you joy. It is unlikely that your future employer will want to see in his team a nervous, exhausted person who you will soon turn into. It will happen if you continue to live only with one thought — finding a job.
Don’t console yourself with the idea that you will live truly as soon as you find a job. If you do not know how to be happy every minute of your life, even if these minutes happened at difficult time, you do not know how to be happy in general. And as soon as you get the wished job, you will immediately find a lot of other reasons to suffer.
